Note: This requires the create permission for protocols, please contact your organisation's superuser if you do not have the required permissions.
Protocols are a way to document a standard way of how to deal with situations arising when providing care events. A support worker can set up a protocol so that staff working with a client are aware of how to support the client with a task and minimise risks or issues.
When creating a protocol for a client you have 2 options
- Using a template
- Starting with a blank protocol
Create a protocol using a template
If your organisation has protocol templates setup (see Creating protocol templates for more information) then you can use these when creating a new protocol for a client.
From the list of protocols, select Add and this will bring up the new protocol page.
Select a team from the dropdown and a list of all the templates that have been assigned to the team will appear.
Only the teams that the client is referred into will display in the list.
Select the template you want to start with by selecting New protocol next to it.
The protocol will be loaded into the page and you can then make changes to the fields to personalise them for the client.
One field that is not included in the template is the review date. If the protocol needs to be reviewed, you will need to set this date and the system will provide reminders when the date arrives - See review a protocol for more information
Once finished select Add protocol at the bottom of the screen.
Create a protocol without using a template
From the list of protocols, select Add and this will bring up the new protocol page.
Select New protocol in the Create a non-templated protocol section.
A blank protocol is displayed, and you can fill in the fields as required.
If the protocol needs to be reviewed, you will need to set this date and the system will provide reminders when the date arrives - See review a protocol for more information
Once finished select Add protocol at the bottom of the screen.
