The parts of a Recordbase dashboard KPI

Recordbase dashboard KPIs comprise two different portions: the summary shown in the main dashboard KPI widget on a user's dashboard, and an optional drill through view with actual data records that the user can access by clicking on the KPI name.

For each dashboard KPI, the main widget (below left), displays two pieces of information:

  • the name of the KPI
  • the summary value of the KPI

This summary value may come in either of two flavours:

  • a single value (eg Current clients = 3)
  • a two-part value (eg Client's seen last 30 days = 2 of 3)

KPIs can also be grouped into categories (eg My clients) in the main widget, if appropriate.

If your KPI includes a drill through, then the KPI name isn't just a pretty face - it will also act as a hyperlink. Click on it to open a brand new drill through window.

A drill through is intended to provide easy 'fact-checking' of the summary value - so it should usually return the raw data records that were actually used to calculate the summary value. You can choose the Recordbase fields to display and even calculate derived fields if you want (most commonly, to indicate the particular rows that make up the important subset of a two-part summary value). Each drill through row can even include a navigation link that takes you directly to the relevant client record.
