The world is no longer as binary as male/female, people now identify themselves as a large number of genders.
NHI numbers and PRIMHD services rely on the sex of a person (male/female) and the reported sex must meet the NHI recorded sex. Gender is a bit more complicated and many people do not identify as being Male or Female.
The difference between sex and gender is that sex is a biological concept based on biological characteristics such as a difference in genitalia in males and females. Gender on the other hand primarily deals with personal, societal and cultural perceptions of sexuality.
Recordbase gives you the option to record the gender that a client identifies as in their personal details so that staff are aware and know how to refer and interact with a client.

Gender Identity is an optional field in Recordbase and needs to be turned on for you to start using it. Contact your Recordbase administrator or support@wildbamboo.co.nz to enable it.
